Centre for the Restoration of the Built Heritage
On the outskirts of Copenhagen, the Centre for the Restoration of the Built Heritage is housed in a former knife factory, at the listed industrial heritage site Raadvad. Also on the premises, a number of private workshops, including a blacksmith, stone mason, bronze foundry and conservation specialists, contribute to this highly skilled environment.
The Centre counts restoration architects, architectural technologists and construction engineers, providing integrated consulting services to a wide variety of clients, including municipalities, housing associations and private home owners. We assist them in the preservation, restoration and development of, predominantly, listed building but also sites and properties of general historical interest – spanning from 17th-century timbered houses to industrial structures from the 1960’s.
Our services include:
o Building condition assesment
o Preservation and restoration plans
o Operative manuals
o Feasibility studies
o Historic building identification & documentation
o Traditional building techniques and materials consulting
o Energy optimization advice
o Communication: Courses for professionals, articles, talks, exhibitions etc.
We assess a building’s embedded qualities and potentials as a movitation for a sustainable development – both aesthetically, historically and physically.
